Once, I was able to see a bible verse, read it, and move on. My very first post of a Verse of the Week was a post with no effort beyond choosing one, copying it, and pasting it. I regret that.

When we read the bible, even for a second of our days, I believe we should stop.

Read it slowly. Maybe once or twice.

May we never reach a point where we can see it and move on. Post it, and call it a day. Slow down with me for a second.

Let’s read our verse with all its surrounding context, taking it one day at a time. Making time to do that and consuming responsibly so we aren’t overwhelmed and bombarded with multiple verses. We have the whole week with it, after all.

Let’s enjoy God’s Word.

God is testing Abraham with this command.

He has asked Abraham to sacrifice his dear son, who he loved. God promised Abraham that he would have many descendants. Now He’s asking him to take his son, who holds a huge part of that promise, and sacrifice him.

How do you think God is testing Abraham?

“May we never reach a point where we can see it and move on” — oof 🥴 I can’t tell you how guilty of that I am.
Perhaps God was testing Abraham’s faith in God’s promise that he would have descendants as numerous as the stars. If he had to sacrifice his only son, he would have to trust that God did not forget His promise and that He would provide.

Right? 🥲 It’s so easy to be desensitised to the things of God as well as the Word. We see it EVERYWHERE.

Around the time I wrote this, I was in a Christian Facebook group, and I was on automatic Like and scroll mode. It hit me that surrounding myself with Scripture meant very little if that was my attitude towards it.

I agree 🙂 Abraham’s faith in God was definitely being tested the moment God asked for his beloved son.
